Taxing Online Gambling
http://www.futureofcapitalism.com/2010/05/taxing-online-gambling
Democrats in Congress want to raise $42 billion over 10 years by legalizing and taxing online gambling, the Wall Street Journal reports. There's a libertarian case for legalizing online gambling, but it seems to me that the decision on it, like legalizing drugs or alcohol or even tobacco, should be driven more by the underlying merits than by whether the government is so fast-growing and starved for revenue that it's looking for more and more enterprizes in which to make itself a profit-sharing partner. by Ira Stoll | May 20, 2010 at 8:52 pm Related Topics: Politics, Taxes receive the latest by email: subscribe to the free futureofcapitalism.com mailing list Reader comments on this item
