The New York Times Company-owned Worcester Telegram & Gazette has been taking a tough stance against illegal immigration in editorials such as this one, while the Times company's flagship has been taking an opposite view in editorials such as this one, notices Worcester Magazine, which also complains that the Telegram & Gazette editorial page "continuously laments against big government's overbearingness and dominance."
It's one thing for a newspaper owner to employ both conservative and liberal opinion columnists to provide a diversity of views. But since the editorials usually represent the point of view of the owner of the newspaper, this is a somewhat unusual situation -- as if the Rupert Murdoch-News Corp.-owned New York Post were calling for higher taxes in editorials while the Rupert Murdoch-News Corp.-owned Wall Street Journal were calling for lower taxes. Maybe they should promote the editorial writer at the Telegram to the Times.
