New York Times columnist Paul Krugman, writing on the plan put forth by the co-chairmen of the deficit reduction commission:
The rate structure is still "progressive," so no income is being "transferred" upward. If anything, there's less income transferred, because those who earn the income will be able to keep more of it, without subsidizing other people's housing or health care via the tax code.
