The New York Times (here) and the Washington Post (here) are making a big deal out of Mitt Romney's prep school misbehavior in 1965. I'm the last one who would defend high school bullying or pranks or misbehavior, but let it just be said that it is not unprecedented. Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy's 1974 book Times To Remember reported about John Kennedy's time at Choate:
One winter I sent him a crate of oranges from Florida, and he amused himself by pegging some of them out his window at friends who were passing below. It was a silly thing to do, and one of the masters caught him at it. He received another demerit. Once he collected all the pillows from all the rooms in his dorm and put them in some boy's room, filling up the whole room from top to bottom, so that when the boy came back from a class and opened his door there was just a solid mass of pillows.
