The great Walter Olson, in linking to my post the other day about Mitt Romney's commercials that promise specific numbers of jobs in each state, observed that it sounded a little like Jennifer Granholm's speech at the Democratic National Convention. From that speech:
In Colorado, the auto rescue saved more than 9,800 jobs! In Virginia, more than 19,000 jobs! In North Carolina, more than 25,000! Wisconsin: more than 28,000 jobs! Pennsylvania: more than 34,000! Florida: more than 35,000! Ohio: more than 150,000! And in the great state of Michigan? President Obama helped save 211,000 good American jobs.
Reason's Shikha Dalmia writes that as governor of Michigan, Ms. Granholm "was arguably the worst governor of her time who, during her eight-year term, took Michigan's teetering economy into her firm hands and gave it a good, hard push off the cliff."
I've observed here earlier that that under Governor Granholm's leadership her state lost more than 600,000 jobs, and had the highest unemployment rate in the country for 49 months.
Hey, the Democrats also had President Carter talk about President Obama's foreign policy accomplishments, so why not have Governor Granholm talk about his jobs record? Maybe they are counting on the voters they are targeting to be too young to remember these people?
