That photograph of the Treasury secretary, Steven Mnuchin, and his wife, Louise Linton holding a sheet of dollar bills is the topic of my column this week. Please check it out at the New York Sun (here) and Newsmax (here).
After I wrote the column I noticed that National Review had weighed in with a piece declaring the two of them "genuinely awful people, of course, absolute national embarrassments whose comprehensive lack of taste or elementary self-awareness is really quite phenomenal to behold." New York Times columnist Bret Stephens tweeted praise of that column. In June Mr. Stephens wrote in the Times that he was quitting Twitter: "I'll keep my Twitter handle, and hopefully my followers, but an editorial assistant will manage the account from now on. I'll intercede only to say nice things about the writing I admire, the people I like and the music I love...Time for people who care about politics and souls to get off Twitter."
