Reader comment on: WSJ on the Giving Pledge

What good is a giving pledge to charity when there are people asking for a little help from these people who have to give money away to avoid taxes and are refused? I could really use $200,000.00, to get out of foreclosure or even $50,000.00, to bring down my mortgage balance-but they only give to organizations. I could even use $5,000.00 for a new gas furnace to be kept warm in the winter - but they won't help. I am in the low to middle class (more to the low) and strugglng with constant things needing repair. Who is to help me? They sure won't. And I make too much, as I am told, for legal aid or even food stamps or free repair. They don't approve of grant giving to individuals.
