Bush had 8 years to mess it upReader comment on: How The Left Will Spin the Election Results Submitted by ben (United States), Nov 2, 2010 09:42 The Bush tax cuts were in 2001 and 2003. The Iraq War cost a bit as well. They ballooned the deficit. The vast majority of job losses occurred under Bush's economic policies. It is completely unrealistic to think that Obama in the span of less than two years could clean up this mess. Americans are all about immediate gratification, and so Obama will be punished. Also, Obama overpromising on what his policies would accomplish didn't help politically, even though it may have been necessary to get his agenda passed. As you said earlier, the US is a strong President system. Blaming Pelosi for Bush's economy does not hold up so well. In the same way, six years from now I won't blame Boehner's congress for the conditions of the economy at the end of Obama's second term.
