Since Human nature does not change very rapidly and the past provides a view of human nature it's the best guess we have of how people will react. There is always a my standard is better than yours point of view, driven by human nature, technologically there is little difference in most cases. For example between a 5 foot gauge and standard gage. I believe that looking to the past provides us perhaps the only way to see the future.
