HP has branched out a bit since introduction of the audio oscilator. Silicon Valley and the entreprenurial spirit of the electronics industry (of which the PC is but a branch) sprung from the HP Garage. In fact the HP Garage is often refered to as the Birthplace of Silicon Valley. Apple is an important part of the development of the personal computer but a milestone rather than a birthplace.
