I built it and Obama didn't lift a finger to help. I asked for help, I was turned away.

Reader comment on: You Didn't Build That

In a recent speech Barack Obama claimed that business owners do not owe their success to their own efforts, but to the government. His own words were "You didn't built that".

Well guess what Obama? I did build it. I had nothing. I was living in a storage unit in a mini-storage center, sleeping next to a rat trap. I asked the government for help. I went to the VA (I am a Marine Corps vet with diagnosed neurological disorder). They turned me away, saying "You're not chronically homeless so we can't help you" - The EXACT words of Gail at the Bay Pines Florida VA Hospital.

So, with no help from Obama - I rebuilt my life. I worked for a temp agency making $7 an hour (I was not going to be picky). I'm not a criminal a drug addict or an idiot. I lost my business. I had a successful business in Florida for two years. It failed (You did that, Obama). I was subsequently homeless as a result.

But I don't give up. I had to sleep in that storage unit for a while, but I was determined to recover from this disaster - with or without the government's help. I managed to save enough money working at that $7 an hour sweatshop to save up to get myself a little office. I started a new business and it's coming along very well, no thanks to Mr. Obama.

His comments are very frustrating because they are a lie.
