Reader comment on: Private Pumps

...are you implying that the Future of Capitalism is a zero-sum game, with a choice between government on one hand and private enterprise on the other? Or that only people who can afford to pay upfront should have the privilege of having the water removed from their basements? What's your point? That the government's getting in the way of Gorman-Rupp growing its business, which, so far as we can tell, has been just fine since 1933? I'm sure Mr. Gorman will be happy to cash FEMA's check, or any government agency's check, as compensation for the use of his pumps, and I'd wager his company, like many companies that build such equipment, has benefited from a government contract or two since 1933.
