I didn't witness Katrina eitherReader comment on: Obama's Katrina (And Bloomberg's, and Christie's) Submitted by ben (United States), Nov 8, 2012 23:31 but a colleague of mine lived in New Orleans at the time. She has told me there is no comparison she has told me. As she put it, civilized society crumbled in New Orleans - it was anarchy. Now, Katrina was a much more destructive storm so it probably isn't fair to compare the responses directly on that basis, but she has said that her in laws in Long Beach were getting help from FEMA a day after the storm left. The didn't have power, potable water or sewer, but there were port-o-potties, MREs and water distribution. Also, Obama reacted immediately (or too early according to Brownie), unlike Bush who waited until it was a full blown crisis. Some in the media may have some bias, but comparing lines at gas stations to riots at the superdome is a bit much. Note: Comments are moderated by the editor and are subject to editing.
