Recall that in On The Beach Australia was the last place humans survived after a nuclear war. Actually if you are looking for a good place for a doomsday bunker Australia is not a bad idea, its geologically stable with few earthquakes. You can locate to avoid typhoons in the Perth area or Sydney or South. These areas also get decent rainfal amounts. So it depends on your doomsday. The Caymans would be in a world of hurt with no fuel or other imports from the us since most of the carabeean refineries would likley shut down. Also I think you would find most food in the Caymans comes from the US that is why the CI dollar is valued at 1.20 us to cover the import duties and allow the use of the same price tags.
