I enjoy your writing but do not understand why you dislike it when short-sellers publicly state their investment case against a stock. Why should just the longs and the managers of companies themselves be allowed to tout their positions? Not welcoming all views on a stock is an anti-free market position and would be a form of market manipulation.

A pet peeve of mine is when journalists refer to Einhorn or similar investors simply as a "short-seller". While technically true, Einhorn has made far more money through his long investments than his short positions. I doubt Einhorn has actually ever been net-short; if so, it has probably been for a brief period of time.
