Reader comment on: Billing Codes Delayed

An app that takes the comments entered into the electronic medical record after the visit, and generates the proper code for a visit. After all if some studies say that computers can do as good a job at diagnosis as humans, this should be an easy task. Once you get software to do it then the computers can talk to the computers and no human need be involved. It is sort of like turbo tax you just enter the numbers and for example turbotax decides if you need to pay the AMT, handles the various other issues etc. It would seem that some of the Electronic Medical records folks should develop this module, once developed if things get more complex you fix the software once and only the developers need be concerned.
