Senator Elizabeth Warren is claiming that "Donald Trump has undermined and corrupted our most popular government agency—the Postal Service."
I was surprised to learn that the postal service is "our most popular government agency." It turns out to be a bogus claim. The Gallup Poll that showed the Postal Service as most popular was rigged. That poll only tested the Postal Service against a bunch of notoriously unpopular or scandal-scarred bureaucracies such as the Internal Revenue Service, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Veterans Administration, and the Federal Reserve Board. It didn't ask about the National Park Service, which other polls have shown is popular, or about the military, which gets pretty good ratings, or about the Supreme Court, which is also pretty popular, or even about local public schools, community colleges, or public universities, which are also pretty popular.
Anyway, the next time Senator Warren or some other Democratic politician tries to sell you on the idea that the Postal Service is "our most popular government agency," do not believe her. It is not accurate.
