"Hypocrisy" is not the word you are looking forReader comment on: Warren Buffett's Tax Hypocrisy Submitted by Matt (United States), Nov 4, 2009 18:01 Your observe, accurately, that Mr. Buffett utilizes options available under current law to limit his tax burden. But there is nothing in the least inconsistent about utilizing such options while also supporting a system that would impose higher taxes on an evenhanded basis. Saying that wealthy Americans as a group should be required to pay more in taxes does not oblige an individual wealthy American to volunteer to pay more than others in his position are paying. The term for Mr. Buffett's actions is not "hypocrisy" but simply "rational behavior," something that capitalists (with or without the "$") should be proud of.
