About half of those over 50 live alone, so these three individuals are in a relatively large category. Furthermore, we aren't absolutely certain they do live alone. And there are some who appear to live alone, but are in non-standard relationships. I recall two friends who were in a long term committed relationship, but lived in separate houses on the same street because they preferred to have some physical distance from each other. The world is complicated, get used to it.
