No, you are wrongReader comment on: Jon Meacham on Those Stupid Voters Submitted by Nevermind (United States), Nov 7, 2010 08:19 On balance, taxes have gone down. If you took the net of the tax cuts in the stimulus (which were income and payroll tax reductions, mind you) and the "tax increases" you so snively cite (which are excise taxes, by the way -- hardly an apples-to-apples comparison and it's extremely disengenuous for you to make it) it is a DECREASE. The banks HAVE paid back TARP. Hell, most Americans somehow think TARP was a Socialist Obama invention. They are wrong. And contrary to McConnell's repeated insistence that we are in the "middle of a recession" -- uttered as recently as last week, the country hasn't been in a recession since the middle of 2009. The voters are not wise. They have the capacity for wisdom, but they lack critical thinking skills. Note: Comments are moderated by the editor and are subject to editing.
