The article conveniently leaves out the condition that Russia disassociate its military alliance with China. This is for the obvious benefit of Taiwan. If Russia refuses, as it is likely to do, the Plan B may seem like the status quo, but it could be letting Ukraine join NATO, regaining Crimea, and setting the stage for a post-Putin relationship with Russia. Vivek has shown the ability to plan more than one move ahead.
