Great short answer (4 words)Reader comment on: The Most Important News Story of the Month Submitted by John Gillis (United States), Dec 9, 2023 07:15 The comment by Mr. Terhune is the perfect answer to this new govt "investment". While the editor is pragmatic and believes that this can't hurt too much since the govt is spending/wasting billions on anti-scientific electrification and net-zero nonsense schemes, it is still a bad idea to have government ever being "investors" in work that should be private. (Military decision-making for new technologies is a different matter, which can be crucially important.) Additionally, the myth that the govt was a benefactor of the drive to obtain good covid vaccines is seriously mistaken. The govt should have simply gotten out of the way of companies like Pfizer and Moderna, and we would have had vaccines available earlier, saving lives. The FDA ("D" as in death) was a drag on saving many Americans who would have benefited from the vaccines earlier. Note: Comments are moderated by the editor and are subject to editing.
