Something and nothing

Reader comment on: Obama's Press Conference
in response to reader comment: Take off the blinders

Contra Ben's claim, it is not "class warfare" to propose less punishment of the rich. Ever heard of the graduated income tax? The rich already pay more. To advocate "decimating" entitlement programs is advocating not giving so much loot to people. It is to advocate a lessening of class warfare.

Taking money from me to give to another is doing something to me--something injurious to me. Something to which I do not consent. Not taking from me is an absence, a stopping of the injury, not a something.

You'd think that nothing would be clearer than the difference between being given money and not being beaten up so badly--but Ben (and the left generally) equate them.
