Paulson is viewed as a modern version of Shylock, as indeed are many on wall street. Shylock was not a very appealing charater at the time with his desire for a pound of flesh, as many on wall street today are viewed as needing theirs.

So nothing new here at least for 500 years. This follows my theory that in respect to human behavior it has all happened before just the boundry conditions are different. People have not changed over time, which of course is why lessons about people from 2000 years ago still hold true. People will not change either this is the way we are and will remain.
