Real Tangible goodness for Humanity

Reader comment on: Steve Jobs' Charity

There was an article published on the Harvard Business Review website, by a charity professional, that wonderfully points out that Steve Jobs is a great benefactor of mankind without giving one damn penny (my wording) to any charity.

A refreshing perspective from someone who would usually not understand the morality of capitalism.

The conventional moralists of our time still cannot grasp the simple fact that Adam Smith, and later Ayn Rand, made so clear -- that the true benefactors of mankind are those who act in their own rational self-interest. Steve Jobs, as is true of Gates, Buffet, Ellison, Borlaug to just name a few -- as businessmen, marketers and inventors -- are the true benefactors of billions of humans -- and they should be cheered for their private actions, not jeered by those clinging to the morality of a pre-capitalist age.
