This arrogant, patronizing attitude is at least part of why the Democrats have become so unpopular in the past year. No thinking adult wants to be told "You're ignorant and stupid, but if you just trust us experts, everything will be OK". Those who actually are ignorant or stupid won't listen, and those who aren't will just feel insulted. And someone should tell these elitists that the age when people trusted experts ended a couple of decades ago, and that this distrust was massively confirmed in the economic meltdown of 2008, which was caused by all the experts in Washington and Wall Street using their brilliant expertise to plan the economy and our lives.
