I may be recalling this incorrectly, but don't Americans define a "billion" as a thousand million and Europeans and some others define a billion as a million millions ? If that's how it is, then what's a trillion for us is just a billion for others. As Lyle notes, all this could be avoided if we just used scienific notation (or all zeros as Tisch suggests).
