'It seems inconsistent to hold government responsible only for all the failures

while not assigning it any credit for the successes.'

Why ? What has government ever done to improve an individual's chances of success ?

The Civil Rights Acts of 1957 and 1964, certainly, but what has government done for us _lately_

that could possibly offset the negative effects of spending the country into bankruptcy buying votes,

or the war on education, or even the refusal to support a transition to nuclear power ?
