Seven of the country's ten richest counties are in the Washington, D.C. area, the Washington Post reports, based on a new census survey. Maryland has the highest median household income of any state, about $70,000, surpassing New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or California. The Post says, "In 2007, before the recession began, five counties in suburban Washington made it into the top 10. By 2010, there were six. The seven in the latest ranking is an all-time high."
That's what happens when you have a vast expansion of the federal government.
