From a memo by Bloomberg News editor in chief John Micklethwait, as reported by the New York Times: "if you are not intrigued by how people make money, or are inclined to sneer at those who are good at it, or yearn to practice 'gotcha journalism' on investment bankers simply because they've chosen to be bankers, Bloomberg is probably the wrong place for you."
Mr. Micklethwait did not point to any specific examples of sneering, "gotcha" articles that he regrets having published, much less remove them from archives or databases, append editor's notes or corrections to them, or issue apologies to the targets of them. But it's nice to know, I suppose, that he considers that it has been a problem.
