Regardless of the Rainbow Fish controversy, it shouldn't come down to either sacrifice others to yourself (exploitation) or sacrifice yourself to others (altruism). How about we do away with sacrifice altogether when it comes to individual and social relations? There is such a third option. It can be found in the works of Ayn Rand and her system of ethics that defines and properly defends rational selfishness.
