How does the "dream vacation" tip presume that the dream locale is outside the US?

It doesn't presume any such thing. How many people in one state in the US don't know the first thing about another state in the US? To how many Californians would you guess I had to explain Iowa's rather storied history of progressive lawmaking and state supreme court decisions, as well as the differences between the Iowan constitutional amendment process and the Californian constitutional amendment process, when Iowa legalized same-sex marriage last year, because none of them knew the first thing about Iowa outside of the existence of corn there? How many people in South Dakota know just as much about the history of the Lakota Native Americans as they do about the history of the Ohlone, or the Utes? Hell, how many people in LA know the Emperor Norton story as compared to those in SF? Some father in New Jersey could sit down with his kid and read a book about the Minnesota and then serve walleye hotdish and Minnesota State Fair-style some-food-or-another-on-a-stick for dinner while they listen to A Prairie Home Companion and then watch Purple Rain and tell Ole and Lena jokes afterward while wearing Gophers caps, and it would fit Obama's suggestion to the tee.

You're looking for things to complain about just for the sake of complaining, and it's excruciatingly obvious. There's really nothing more important going on right now at which you can get infuriated? Come on.
