Have you ever read Shafer before? Do you believe he was also serious at the end of the column when he wrote - Send collective assignments to [email protected]. I will ignore them. My email alerts endorsed George Papoon for president in 2016. My Twitter feed wrote in Alfred E. Neuman. My RSS feed voted for whatever knucklehead the Libertarian Party put up.

I've been reading him for 20 years. It's true he sometimes votes Libertarian, or did when he was at Slate and the writers had to disclose their votes.
