Really? Congress balanced the budget?

As I recall, Bill Clinton Passed his budget in 1993 with no Republican votes. It raised taxes and led to balanced budgets. I will allow Republicans to take credit for welfare reform, but balancing the budget is a bit of revisionist history. I suppose we could say that the Democratically controlled congress was responsible for winning the Cold War in the 1980's, but I would imagine that some Republicans might prefer to give Reagan credit for that.

Another possibility about why Republicans have failed to roll back government is that the actions taken are actually popular. Medicare was fought tooth and nail and now it is popular. The same will likely happen with health care.
