Immigration reform

Reader comment on: Schumer's Immigration Promise

I'm still waiting for someone I trust to define what the "comprehensive" in "comprehensive immigration reform" means. As far as I can tell, it means exactly what it meant in 1986, i.e., amnesty for all of the illegals and a promise to close the southern border that will then be ignored. The Canadians are WAY ahead of us on figuring out how to handle immigration sensibly. Among other things, they actively pursue policies that encourage highly educated and skilled immigrants, rather than another ten million gardeners and roofers. The Google guys didn't sneak over the southern border and neither did the others in the Immigrant, Inc. saga.
