Who's going to provide the information to the voters?

Reader comment on: Congress Discovers Ethics

Submitted by Gregory Koster (United States), Aug 3, 2010 01:59

Dear Mr. Stoll: What are you telling me, that the New York TIMES would have exposed Rangel unless someone else had gotten started first? The way they covered the ClimateGate scandal? More broadly, the press in this nation is stuffed with liberal bigots howling Rah, rah, go team, get those racists. They can be counted on to give the works to conservative sins and crimes? Liberal sins? They don't exist, you racists. Not only is their bigotry pushing them that way, but the hoped for press bailouts require leaning left. Nor, as a practical matter, are the ethics committees going to be howling for blood most of the time. Getting rid of the committees, without an honest press, is a formula for corruption.

Sincerely yours,

Gregory Koster

The Future of Capitalism replies:

The Times article on Rangel's rent controlled apartment did predate any ethics committee inquiry.
