Lewis Powell was a partner at Hunton & Williams, and the president of the ABA. He was only an OK Justice. His biggest flaw was creating complicated balancing tests that were incomprehensible to anyone but him and made it impossible to predict how the case would be applied. We're much better off with Justices like Scalia, Thomas and, I hope, Kavanaugh.
