This proves the ridiculousness of the anti-Mosque people

This man is exactly the kind of moderate Islamic voice necessary to combat militant Islamists. By lumping in all Muslims with Al-Qaeda - which is what we as a nation are doing when we oppose the Mosque - we do more to harm our cause against Al-Qaeda than almost anything else. Bush had this many speak at a memorial service shortly after 9/11. What is clear is that a vocal minority in our country that is driving the political conversation are bigots. Anti-gay, anti-Muslim etc. I can only take solace in the fact that over time our nation has proved that despite times of backsliding, the wisdom of the Constitution and diversity of our nation eventually trump the overheated bigotry of the few, be they slave owning southerners, George Wallace and Bull Connor, or our current day Father Coughlins - Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich. At our current rate, it is only a matter of time before the calls for internment camps begin. I am mildly surprised a call hasn't been made in one of these Republican primaries.

I can't think of a better use of state department money than funding moderate American Muslim as they work as ambassadors abroad.

The Future of Capitalism replies:

We have an internment camp, Guantanamo.

Whether it is a good use of state dept. money to send around a guy who won't call Hamas terrorists and who made some chicken-home-roost type post-9/11 comment is another question.
