I agree on the growth - more immigrants would help stabilize the system. This is really what makes us look a lot better than Western Europe and China - our demographics still resemble a pyramid even with the baby boomers.

I wouldn't agree that medicare vouchers or private SS accounts is a "tweak." Vouchers are a way of rationing care, something Republicans fought tooth and nail (somewhat disingenuously). Private accounts for SS are well and good until the market crashes like it did. Also, getting from our current system to a private account system would be tough nut to crack.
