I read the NYT article.

They're not characterizing her financial difficulties as a handicap and they're not placing blame.

They're just reporting the facts and note that it's a "striking departure from the typical Senate candidate", which certainly appears to be true.

It's you who's putting a negative spin on these factual characteristics of the candidate. Why do you think it's a bad thing to note that a candidate isn't rich? Because you are biased against poor people, I suppose,
