Learned Hand is the manReader comment on: What David Brooks Missed About Apple's Taxes Submitted by Andrew Terhune (United States), Jan 16, 2019 18:12 The quote from Judge Learned Hand, "Over and over again courts have said that there is nothing sinister in so arranging one's affairs as to keep taxes as low as possible..." cannot be repeated often enough. If governments want us to pay more taxes, then they have to legislate and go on record as favoring higher taxes. No one should be bullied or shamed to pay more because, as the judge so aptly put it, "taxes are enforced exactions, not voluntary contributions."
