Privacy is overratedReader comment on: Competition As Regulation Submitted by Harry Binswanger (United States), Feb 9, 2019 02:20 You nailed it. From a shopper's viewpoint: since we're going to see ads anyway, I'd prefer to see ads for things in my fields of interest. Thank you for bringing up the other side of the story: how from a business standpoint, targeted ads save costs. Why are people so paranoid about their "privacy"? Americans go out of their way to shout their values and interests on all sorts of platforms. They even wear T-shirts to announce their values to the world. But suddenly, if one company gives to another info about the food you like, your sports team ("Let's Go, Yankees!"), and your favorite brand of writing implement, it's an INVASION OF MY PRIVACY! Gasp! Note: Comments are moderated by the editor and are subject to editing. Comment on this item |
