This makes no sense, what am I missing?

Did she take into account the debt people racked up? If we are talking about inequality, what people take home is most important. I think it is smart to think about equality after the taxes have been taken out, but looking only at the spending side presumes that saving and building ones capital doesn't matter. Surely it does.

See the last part about how lowest quint income people are more likely to have their houses paid off. Plenty of debt at the high end, too...
