Before the Republican landslide of 1994, Democrats were trying to rally the troops by telling them that they ought to be petrified by the two most frightening words imaginable : "Speaker Gingrich." "Majority Leader Schumer" ought to be equally frightening to most Democrats, at least those who hope to lower the volume on partisan shouting matches.
