Ethanol is of course a boondoggle. If we did it right we would use the rum process (sugar cane) rather than the whiskey process corn to make our ethanol. Central America, and northern south america would become the Saudi Arabia of ethanol in this case. It's interesting that because we keep the price of sugar high to protect domestic manufactures sugar ethanol is not profitable in the US.
