Subway may not be the apt comparison

There is at least a difference in the amount of time it takes to get somewhere on the subway from taking a cab. For someone whose time is valuable, it may be worth the expenditure, especially since it's easier to be productive in a cab.

But there is no excuse for car service in a city like Boston, where catching a cab takes all of two minutes.
