L.A. Country tracking Coronavirus racial metrics for "target status"

Reader comment on: Race-Based Distribution of Covid-19 Vaccine?

Submitted by Woosuk Lee (United States), May 17, 2020 11:11

Los Angeles County's Dept. of Public Health recently added "Race/Ethnicity" and "Area Poverty" tables to their Coronavirus statistics website along with an undefined "target status" check mark: http://publichealth.lacounty.gov/media/coronavirus/covid19_recovery_dashboard.htm

Is this a lead-up to race/socioeconomic-based vaccine distributions? Will all races and poverty areas need to be granted a green check by the government before opening up the county?

A reminder that this is the department led by Barbara Ferrer who recently the lockdown will continue through July, only to back off after widespread backlash. Ferrer's is not an MD, rather her main credential is a doctorate in "social welfare" which adds to my suspicion about how these statistics will be used for public policy.
