Flat tax rate

I favor removing from the hands of politicians determining what is a business expense or consumption. The idea of taxes is to raise revenues and the most transparent way is a flat tax rate. I would not tax those earning less than a proscribed amount, let's say $40,000, and the rest are tax at a flat rate. First benefit is the elimination of the tax evasion industry which I consider one of the most, if not the most, non-productive industry in this society.
