Wealth Concentration

Reader comment on: Israel's Wealth Gap

At the heart of societal evolution is the recurring self-destructive power arising from concentrated wealth and the insistent liberal force of individuals seeking more than leavings. In the entire world .7% of the world's people control 45.9% of the wealth and according to Piketty "wealth is so concentrated that a large segment of society is virtually unaware of its existence, so that some people imagine that it belongs to surreal or mysterious entities." But in nations with a middle class, the issues of bigotry, healthcare, corruption, education, pandemics, infrastructure, ... are subject to the synergy of insurrectionists, political parties, states, regions, religions, races, and ethnic groups. It makes for the strange bedfellows like FDR's coalition after the Great Depression and Israel's now trying to end Netanyahu's 12-year reign. Credit Suisse and Forbes publish world data on wealth as we evolve from first taxing consumption, then income to wealth, as all people pay their fair share.
