Domestic manufacturing and a strong dollar are contradictory.Reader comment on: Krugman on the 'Dollar Panic' Submitted by Lyle (United States), Nov 30, 2009 23:01 If we want to keep manufacturing then we need a weak dollar, both because it encourges exports and discourages imports, and makes making things domestically more economical. A strong dollar encourages offshoring as us based labor becomes relativly more expensive.
